The European Patent Office has registered a new request from Sony called Xperia Diagnostics. As it is obvious, it is not a mobile device, but rather an application for devices with Android operating system which will be, almost with total probability, a diagnostic, assessment of the system function. However, it is still totally unknown by users and media, which makes us very difficult to know what it is.
Some media are pointing to it's a new version of the maintenance application for Xperia devices which is now available in the app store, and is used to analyze whether each one of the functions of the smartphone operates in the correct way. However, it seems unlikely that this is the case since it is not reasonable that an application that already have active requires a registry at the European Patent Office, unless you already have a service of others with the same name.
Even so, strange that Xperia Diagnostics deserves to be registered to carry out a simple function, and in the case of an application that would not be deeply discharged.
It might be a virus scanner, for example, that it would analyze the applications we have installed in the system and those containing malicious software that detects. That would fit much with vast quantities of data that suggest that Android has important security issues because of the viruses that are in the Google Play app store. In any case, it is possible that we will have new data on the application in the 2013 CES in Las Vegas or the Barcelona Mobile World Congress 2013. There will be if this record is the result of a mere formality or if really Sony is preparing something important.
